I was peering out my office window Monday Morning.
And there was the ‘Old Man’…
Swinging a Sledgehammer about trying to get a root out of my lawn from a tree we had cut down..
Anyways –
I goes out to ask if he wants a cuppa..
Got through the usual first 5 minutes of any convo with him..
You know..
‘What time do you call this?’
‘I see you haven’t got very far with this you useless sod’
‘Is the kettle broke here or what?’
And finally… in response to me saying.
‘I’ll make you a cuppa now as I’m working in 15 minutes’
The usual.
‘Work? Is that what you call it?’
And there my friends is why social media abuse is like water off a ducks back to me…
My old man has been preparing me for it all my life.
IN all fairness though he’s brilliant, and would always do anything for us boys..
And fair play he did get that root out..
Slowly he chipped away, bit by bit until it was all done.
Got me thinking..
What would a bit more patience and commitment to the small things do for most of us.
And the answer is a lot..
It’s the same with creating a calm, powerful mind..
You can get caught up in a lot of fancy stuff, but some simple relentless basics done well will reap great rewards..
Journal appreciation.
Breathe better.
Move more.
Hydrate early.
Sleep well.
Simple things that make a lot of difference. You won’t be writing home about the methods and how exciting they are.
But they will get the job done..
