BodyMindSoul10 Things I Wish I Knew Earlier

11 August 2020

Yesterday I was messing about with some journal prompt cards for creativity

As you do 😂

I ending up drawing this one out

10 things you wish you knew earlier

Got me thinking (obviously) and for al lot of them I would of known but just wasn’t’ willing to accept or do

=============

So here they are –

1 – Change requires you to be greater than your current reality.

Took me a while to figure this out to be fair. I spent years expecting things to change, wanting things to change, but always caught up in thinking the way I felt was a result of my outside world.

As Yoda says to Luke ‘With you always It can’t be done’

Something I still have to remember now, but it gets easier as time goes by.

2 – Failure is not the end of it all

I wish I knew I would fail loads and that it wouldn’t actually matter

Every failure can lead to finding a way that works.

Failure is never the end, unless I let it be.

3 – Feeling first every time

EVERY time. Wrestling with our thoughts, trying to improve the mind. Took me a long ass time to understand and see that I could create better feelings and thy must come first for everything else to follow.

4 – Walking is ace

Basically I wish I got in to walking earlier in life.

The more I walk each week, the fresher I feel.

5 – The journey is where the GOLD is NOT the destination

When I get______ I’ll be _______

Man – what a waste of time that was.

The journey as cliche as it sounds is where the gold is.. How much time do we waste rushing through life to get to some made up destination

Ironically an Adam Sandler film showed me how wishing time away affects us. Think it was called Click. Either way.. we pick the Gold up on the journey not at the destination

6 – True confidence hinges on radical self acceptance

A lot of my confidence came from what I was doing… and yep that helps..

Measure your achievements and you will build some confidence

However – A huge amount of confidence for me has come from who I am being and working on accepting myself 100% good, bad and the ugly

‘Never judge a man but what can be taken from him’ is a good quote

If your confidence is only based on external things, that too can be taken away

7 – Motivation is overrated.

Yep

Just get committed and learn to take care of the next step not focus on the destination all day

8 – Shaming myself in to action was exhausting

Public accountability, public declarations all in the aim of getting me to do what I was struggling to do.

I don’t like shame based stuff like that, and when I relied on it things felt harder, and results slower

I also see it now as a sign I was unable to really master my own thinking as the driver in those days was fear, and who wants to scare and shame themselves in to action all day

9 – Not knowing everything is actually pretty fun

The unknown is actually a pretty liberating place when you stop being afraid it

10 – No one can do it for me

Mentors, friends, people in general. No one can make me happy, successful, motivated if I can’t do it for myself..

Help is something we should all have, however help can’t do it for us, it can only guide us.

=========================

I can think of loads more undoubtedly

But these 10 came out pronto

What about you?
