BodyMindSoulThe surprising benefit of letting go of the past

7 October 2020

Every week I teach a mastery group…

It’s full of folks after a high level of thinking, coaches, Artists, business owners etc etc

And this sentence sums it up best from an outstanding book that talks about high performance states

‘They are deliberately cultivating these states to solve critical challenges and outperform their competition. It isn’t just grit, better habits orlonger hours that are seperating the best from the rest’

Know the book? Drop me a msg..

Back to my point. Oh yeah.. what is my point?

The mind is a wonderful thing when it’s performing spot on, not so good when it isn’t

I speak a lot, and meet a lot of folks online that are exhausted mentally..

Doesn’t matter if you are trying to get in shape, build a business, manage a family life or just flat out feel better

Mental exhaustion isn’t helping anyone, and one of the greatest reasons we are exhausted is all the mental junk we hang on to

My phone was playing up last week

Slow…. Glitchy… the lot, and lets be fair that can be frustrating, just like when the mind is’t playing ball

After further inspection (a fancy way of saying I googled it)

It seemed I had a ton of applications running in the background

Hardly any storage space left at all (too many Milo Pictures no doubt)

And a whole load of apps I wasn’t using

Cleaned it all up and it’s working way better

The mind is exactly the same, it’s always processing stuff in the background

Grudges
Past hurt
Things we haven’t let go of
Guilt and shame
Crappy old beliefs
Unfinished tasks
Past failures we haven’t let go of

From small to big, it’s all there

And it takes up so much storage and brain power..

Letting go of it is never an intellectual process, people simply talk it into bigger things, it’s a emotional process

I went through a whole month of it and it changed how I felt massively, my concentration, creativity, decision making all improved

I still try and get a week in a month of ‘resetting’ and clearing up the old redundant crap

So a question worth considering is what is there I could do with letting go of?

Not for anyone or anything other than your own mind
