Now and again I get asked what I’m doing to look after myself..
So apart from the usual stuff that we teach heavily like
Unbreakable Journal
20 minutes meditation
Hydrate early with lots of water
Getting outside to move early
I’ve added a few things that I think
have been helping me
In fact I know they have been helping me because I track a whole load of health markers each day
1 – LIMITING the white light off screens
Nothing crazy here but Before 12 and after 3 I have my phone set to night mode, and for my laptop I downloaded an application to limit all the junk light
I can honestly say I feel better for it. I don’t watch a great deal of TV so that’s no real drama
But just those two things alone have helped me avoid that slump of energy I felt after a day of sitting on Zoom’s etc where your eyes end up knackered
I used to feel real head tired, and foggy when I came up for air after being on it.
Which would lead to crappy decisions mid afternoon or early eve
I don’t get that these days
2 – AFTERNOON breathing
When I feel myself reaching for that extra cup of tea or a coffee
I go for a Glass of water and 5 minutes breathing eyes open through the heart
I also do this when I finish work in the eve, it’s like a little reset button.
I honestly recommend anyone does that when they finish work, or school run or whatever
5 mins to create a bit of space and slow down before you end up walking head first into the next part of the day
Now they sound like small things, and they are.
If you follow me you know I am always measuring brainwaves, practice focus
tasks like neuromining, doing reset weeks and stuff like that.
But for two simple things anyone can do, they are it.
And it’s stopping that thing I keep talking about.
The death by a thousand paper cuts scenario
Where we keep adding and adding to our stress levels all day until they end up overflowing
It’s the small daily adjustments like stopping to breathe, reducing screen time, hydrating and so on
That slow us down.. And slow our stress responses down, meaning better decisions
And better decisions mean better results…
And in this case
More energy
